In China they where selling these cool LED based lights. They where small, light and had and you could just squeezing them would give them enough energy to light up your day. What I thought was a cool light, turned out to be pretty stupid and useless.
It all started with a presentation in the train, by the conductor, who tried to sell people a small torch. You could squeeze it to charge it (although that is what I understood) and then you could use it to shine at things. The cool thing was, you didn't need to squeeze during the usage: squeez, switch on and relax your hand while you where observing whatever tried to hide in the dark.
It seemed to work well and the package said: no batteries. For only 1 euro, it was a cheap toy and I thought it was good value for money.
Thinking that was not enough. I carelessly kept the light on when I stored it away, who cared about the energy (right?) there was enough of that just a few squeezes away, but the next time I tried to use it: no luck. Every squeeze I did would shortly light the LEDs and the stop them immediately. This is the big problem with these things: if you have to squeeze it, you can't point it. So the thing was useless in that state.
I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working, but the only logical solution was that there actually where batteries in there. So I opened it up and there they where. Under the black cap, just below the LEDs was a hidden collection of 3 batteries. I didn't even try to put it back together because, apart from it being useless, pieces of plastic came crumbling of. After the first pieces of plastic left the ship, the rest soon followed and the whole thing became an even more useless reck.
